Zimbabwe Police Release Names Of Criminals Jailed For Serious Crimes In Major Crackdown

Zimbabwe Police Reveal Identities Of Convicted Armed Robbers

In a major law enforcement crackdown, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has publicly released the names of criminals convicted and sentenced for serious offences. The statement, dated September 18, 2025, covered convictions up to September 16, 2025. It listed individuals jailed for armed robbery, murder, carjacking, unlawful entry, and large-scale theft.

The police described the convictions as a result of close cooperation with the public and urged citizens to continue supplying information to help dismantle criminal networks.

Dangerous robbers and violent thieves brought to justice

Several violent offenders were sentenced in Harare earlier this month. On the 6th of September 2025, Kundiso Mlambo (22), Noel Gandazha (32), and Takudzwa Mazhambe (29) were jailed for armed robbery. The court heard how the three men attacked a victim on 3rd July 2025 and stole a bag containing clothes and a cellphone. Each received a five-year prison term.

In another case, Garikai Zhelende (30) was convicted on the 8th of September 2025 for armed robbery and unlawful entry. He was handed an eight-year sentence after targeting people along secluded paths and stealing cash, clothing, and valuables. He also broke into a church and a school, taking utensils, drums, and roofing sheets.

The statement from police detailed his actions, saying:

“He targeted victims who used secluded paths and robbed them of cash, clothes, and other valuables. He also broke into a church and school where he stole kitchen utensils, drums and roofing sheets.”

Impersonator and serial thief receive lengthy sentences

The crackdown also saw the sentencing of a man who posed as a police officer. Allan Moyo (35) was convicted on 6th September 2025 for theft and impersonation. He received a twenty-year sentence after stealing vehicles from four complainants in 2024, which he later sold.

The ZRP statement noted:

“The accused person impersonated police officers, stole vehicles from four complainants and sold them to unsuspecting buyers.”

On the same day, John Chagwiza (36) was convicted on multiple counts of unlawful entry and theft. He received a 16-year prison term after repeatedly breaking into houses and stealing property.

Recent carjackings lead to swift convictions

More recent cases were also finalised. On 13th September 2025, Enock Mawarire (39) and Khulekani Sibanda (34) carjacked a Nissan Caravan in Belvedere, Harare. They were arrested and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Just days later, on 16 September 2025, Tapiwa Malasha (32) and Francis Zuze (41) were sentenced to seven years in prison for stealing a Toyota Hiace at Zvipoto, Unit N shops, Chitungwiza. The theft had occurred only two days earlier, on 14th September 2025.

Commissioner Nyathi, Chief Staff Officer for Press and Public Relations, commended the public for their role in helping secure convictions. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and continue providing information.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds the public for supplying information that led to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the accused persons. The public should continue supplying information on criminal activities in the country.”

The ZRP reminded citizens that reports can be made on the National Complaints Desk at (0242) 703631 or via WhatsApp on 0712 800 187.
