A Zimbabwean soccer star is involved in a scandal of identity fraud and alleged deception after using a fake name. The player in question, formerly known to fans as Ephany Gwawawa, now appears on team sheets as Tanyaradzwa Godfrey Tsiga.
The core of the allegation is that this is the same individual who may have illegally registered under two different names to represent two separate clubs within a single, tumultuous season.
The controversy came to a head after Tsiga featured for Hardrock FC in a decisive 3–0 victory against ZRP Gwanda. Observers from opposing teams raised the alarm, recognising the player as Ephany Gwawawa, the same Player who had previously turned out for Dilibadzimu.
This potential breach of league rules has prompted a swift response from the football authorities. Confirming the impending showdown, Central Region Soccer League chairman Patrick Hill stated:
“The case is going for a hearing this weekend.”

The controversy deepened dramatically over the weekend when one of Hardrock’s primary rivals, Sheasham, sensationally withdrew from the competition. The club pointed the finger at “unfair play” within the league’s administration, a move that has cast a long shadow over the entire competition.
Furthermore, rumours have swirled regarding teams providing financial or material support to their rivals, specifically concerning the purchasing of kits, a move seen by some as an attempt to influence the fiercely contested promotion race.
Addressing these wider concerns, Chairman Patrick Hill sought to clarify the league’s position. He remarked:
“The Region does not control any company’s corporate social responsibility programme. If the kits were sponsored by Hardrock, we would intervene, but there is no team called GMI in our league.”

This statement was a direct response to widespread belief that a company known as GMI is the true owner of Hardrock FC. On the matter of Sheasham’s withdrawal, Hill maintained a stance of impartiality, saying,
“All 18 teams in the Region are equal in the face of the League. We remain open to dialogue because football must be the winner.”
