Police Offer Massive Cash Reward For Capture Of Guruve Family Massacre Suspect
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is offering a substantial cash reward for information leading directly to the capture and arrest of Anymore Zvitsva, the prime suspect in the brutal Guruve family killings.
Police Commissioner Stephen Mutamba has personally guaranteed the reward. However, the force did not reveal the exact monetary amount.
“Anyone who gives the information will certainly be rewarded as pledged by the Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba,” the police statement declared.
A Trail Of Brutal Violence
The search centres on a series of horrific attacks in Guruve, Mashonaland Central. Police first named Zvitsva as a suspect following an 11 December 2025 massacre at Plot 9, Ona Farm. Five family members were killed in that attack, including 66-year-old Grace Zvitsva, two young children aged 2 and 5, and two adults. A sixth victim, Tendai Zvitsva, 40, was found critically injured and later died in hospital.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, described the scene. He confirmed a neighbour alerted authorities after hearing disturbances.
“Tendai Zvitsva was found alive but critically injured and later died at Guruve Hospital, while the bodies of the other four victims were discovered inside the house,” Nyathi stated.
Nationwide Manhunt Intensifies
The police investigation has since linked Zvitsva to three other murders in Zimuna Village, under Chief Bepura. The victims in that separate incident were identified as Pamela, Kudzai, and Tawanda Chipangura. This brings the total number of murders Zvitsva is suspected of committing to eight.
Authorities had already released a photograph of the 32-year-old suspect, also known as “Modho”, in a public appeal on 17 December 2025. In response to the escalating crisis, police have launched an unprecedented operation. Commissioner Nyathi outlined the resources deployed.
“Police have mounted an extensive manhunt, deploying drone surveillance, Support Unit officers, CID detectives, canine units, horse patrols and intelligence operatives, amid fears the suspect may be hiding in forested and mountainous areas around Guruve.”
The motive remains unclear, though police have previously suggested the suspect may have mental health challenges. They have urged communities to seek professional help for individuals showing signs of severe instability.
A Plea For Public Help
The reward announcement follows a new, separate tragedy in the same district. On 18 December 2025, an elderly woman (55) and a six-month-old infant were found brutally murdered at Farm 88, Nyakapupu, Guruve. Police confirmed the victims had sustained multiple head injuries. While this case is under investigation, the timing has heightened local fears.
The police statement from 19 December emphasised confidentiality and caution.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges those with information to contact the National Complaints Desk on 0242 703631 or WhatsApp 0712800197 or the Officer Commanding Guruve Police District, Chief Superintendent Marange on 0719010093 or approach any nearest Police Station.”
Authorities have warned the public not to approach Anymore Zvitsva if seen, but to immediately contact the police. The undisclosed substantial reward underscores the desperation to apprehend the suspect and end the cycle of violence.
