ZRP Warns Zimbabweans Against Parading Coffins Through CBDs
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned Zimbabweans against parading the bodies of deceased relatives or friends through central business districts (CBDs) and other public places to honour their lives. Police said some funeral processions have seen coffins transported dangerously on top of vehicles, putting the public at risk.
ZRP Warns Against Dangerous Funeral Processions
In a statement shared on 21 July 2026, the Zimbabwe Republic Police warned against using funeral processions to recognise the vending, touting or kombi activities of deceased people.
The ZRP said:
“The ZRP warns Zimbabweans against parading and toy-toying with bodies of late relatives or friends in CBDs and public places as a way of honouring or recognising their vending, touting or kombi antics during the late person’s lifetime.”
Police added:
“Some of the coffins will be paraded whilst hanging precariously on top of vehicles. This endangers public safety.”
Police Warn Offenders Will Face The Law
The ZRP said anyone found violating the law or abusing dead bodies would face legal action.
“The law will definitely take its course without fear or favour on anyone found to be violating or abusing dead bodies.”
The police urged Zimbabweans to conduct funeral processions responsibly and in accordance with the law.
