One person has died after a stampede erupted at the National Sports Stadium during the Zimbabwe-Democratic Republic of Congo football match on Monday, 28 September 2026.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the fatal incident happened at Gate 2 at around 6:30 pm, shortly after the match began. Police said the incident involved a public order vehicle and a pedestrian.
