Social Media Reacts as Norman Mapeza ‘Blocks’ Denver Mukamba’s Scottland FC Return
Social media has erupted with reactions after it emerged that newly appointed Scottland FC head coach Norman Mapeza reportedly halted plans to re-sign Denver Mukamba ahead of the upcoming season.
Mukamba’s return to the club had appeared imminent after Scottland FC president Scott Sakupwanya publicly expressed his desire to bring the veteran midfielder back late last year. However, sources indicate that Mapeza has declined to approve the move, signalling an early assertion of his authority at the club.

Scott Sakupwanya Previously Pushed for Denver Mukamba Comeback
Speaking to club media in November, Sakupwanya made no secret of his admiration for Mukamba, describing him as a difference-maker even in limited minutes.
“In the coming pre-season, we have to get Denver. He should return to Scottland by all means. Even if Denver doesn’t play full minutes, the little time you give him, he makes an impact. When we faced Dynamos, I wasn’t worried about any other player, only Denver,” Sakupwanya said at the time.

Denver Mukamba was a key figure during Scottland’s promotion campaign to the Premier Soccer League under Mabviravira, earning praise for his leadership and experience in midfield.
From Release to Dynamos Return
Despite his influence, Denver Mukamba was released when his contract expired in December 2024. The 33-year-old then endured a six-month spell without a club before securing a mid-season move back to Dynamos in July 2025.
His performances since returning to the Harare giants reportedly reignited Scottland’s interest, setting the stage for a potential reunion that now appears unlikely under Mapeza’s leadership.
Coach Asserts Authority in Squad Decisions
Mapeza, who was appointed as Scottland FC coach last month, is understood to be keen on reshaping the squad according to his own vision. His decision to block Mukamba’s return is being viewed as a clear message that technical decisions will rest firmly with the coaching staff.
The club has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
Social Media Reacts
The reported move has sparked lively debate across social media platforms, with fans divided over Mapeza’s stance.
Some supporters have backed the coach’s decision, arguing that Scottland should focus on younger players and long-term squad building. Others believe Mukamba’s experience and proven impact make him an ideal squad player.
