A family in Kadoma has been destroyed by a scandalous and deadly confrontation, where a father allegedly murdered his son after being discovered in a compromising situation with his son’s wife, his daughter-in-law. The incident, which occurred on January 6, 2026, has led to the arrest of seven people.

Seventy-eight-year-old Benjamin Harry stands accused of the fatal assault on his 30-year-old son, Kudakwashe Harry. According to the initial report, the tragedy unfolded when Kudakwashe returned home and found his father with his 22-year-old wife, Evelyn Mashava. A violent argument erupted between father and son.

A Fatal Blow And A Macabre Plan

H-Metro reports that the confrontation turned deadly when Benjamin Harry allegedly seized an iron bar.

The cruel father struck his son, resulting in his instant death.

With Kudakwashe dead, a panicked scheme was allegedly set in motion to disguise the killing. Benjamin reportedly sought assistance from Evelyn Mashava’s young brothers, Tongai Mavhurume, 18, and a 16-year-old minor. It is claimed he offered them an incentive for their help.

It is alleged that he offered to compensate them by selling one of his cows. It is alleged that they dangled the body on a tree branch to create an impression of a suicide.

The body was later discovered hanging from a tree, prompting a police investigation that quickly unravelled the alleged plot. All accused, including Evelyn Mashava, Mike Hwata (36), William Grasham (34), and Perfect Vembo (18), were remanded in custody under case number Kadoma Rural 27/1/26.

Conflicting Accounts Cloud The Case

As the case proceeds, contrasting stories have emerged from the accused. An alternative version presented suggests that two of the other accused, Perfect Vembo and William Grasham, are former partners of Evelyn Mashava. This account claims they were involved in a separate altercation with Kudakwashe on the fateful day.

Further statements from Evelyn Mashava introduced another layer, implying her brothers intervened to protect her from alleged mistreatment by her husband. However, forensic evidence provides a clear physical account of the death.
