‘A cool US$630,000 spent with Love’: Wicknell Chivayo Gifts Church Leaders Luxury Cars and Cash
Businessman Wicknell Chivayo says he has spent a total of US$630,000 on vehicles and cash gifts for church leaders, declaring that he is “tired” of buying Toyota Aquas and has now upgraded to higher-end models.
In a lengthy Facebook post on Friday, Chivayo described the spending spree as an expression of love and appreciation to members of Johanne Masowe Chishanu, which he said is “arguably the biggest Church in Zimbabwe and Africa.”
“Fortuner Is the New Aqua”: Wicknell Chivayo
Wicknell Chivayo said Toyota Aquas had become too common.
“Ndakasvika paku neta neku tenga ma AQUA, angovawo nemunhu wese so in 2026, I have UPGRADED and a TOYOTA FORTUNER is now the new AQUA,” he wrote.
He announced that six church leaders from Harare would each receive a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner 2.4D valued at US$70,000, fully registered in their names. Each of the recipients will also get US$10,000 in cash for fuel and personal use.

The beneficiaries include Madzibaba Auto (Budiriro 2), Madzibaba Tinashe (White Cliff), Madzibaba Bhuru (Hatcliff), Madzibaba Rabbi Musande (Ruwa), Madzibaba Patrick (Grenarah) and Madzibaba Benjamin (Sunningdale).
Additional Gifts and Cash Handouts
Chivayo also recognised a young church member from the Marondera branch, Madzibaba Johanne Tasiriro, whom he described as exceptionally devoted.
Although he said he had recently bought him a house and a Toyota Fortuner, Chivayo announced an additional gift — a brand-new 2026 Ford Ranger Wildtrak valued at US$80,000, along with US$10,000 in cash. He suggested the previously gifted Fortuner could be passed on to Tasiriro’s wife.
Two other leaders, Madzibaba Moses (Gwanzura Branch) and Madzibaba Owen (Velvet Branch), were each allocated US$20,000 for fuel, while their wives will receive US$10,000 each in cash.
Multi-Million Dollar Church Commitment
Chivayo said the US$630,000 spent on Friday was part of a broader US$10 million commitment he has pledged to the church this year. He added that if the funds run out, he is prepared to double the amount to US$20 million.
He further revealed that he has ordered 40 additional brand-new buses for church use and promised that more leaders would receive vehicles during the year.
“Chinamato cheMasowe hachina hurombo,” he wrote, insisting that the church does not lack resources.
