Kaizer Chiefs legend Willard Katsande lands top coaching job in Zimbabwe

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Zimbabwe captain Willard Katsande has started a new coaching journey. He has been appointed head coach of Rangers FC.

The club previously operated as Chinhoyi Rangers. It competes in Zimbabwe’s Northern Region Division One League.

Rangers FC is based in Chinhoyi. Meanwhile, Soccer 24 Zimbabwe reports the club will unveil Katsande soon.

First Coaching Role in Zimbabwe

This appointment marks Katsande’s first coaching role in Zimbabwe. He earned his Confederation of African Football coaching badge in mid-2025.

Katsande completed the coaching course with former Warriors captain Tapuwa Kapini. Although this is his first professional head coaching job, he prepared for the role.

He gained experience through several football development projects.

Experience Beyond His Playing Career

Katsande has already invested time in football development. He runs his academy, Kitoko Soccer School.

At the academy, he mentors and develops young players. Previously, he worked with South African fourth-division club Crystal Lake FC.

He also served as an ambassador for Sekhukhune United.

Katsande built a strong reputation during his playing career.

He became a fan favourite during his successful spell at Kaizer Chiefs.

Now, Rangers FC hopes his leadership will drive the club forward.
