In an interview with Anele Mdoda on 947, Rachel explained her past struggles.
She revealed that she had asked Siya for permission to buy basic toiletries. This happened while she cared for her newborn son and Siya’s siblings.
Meanwhile, social media users accused Siya of financial abuse.
Rachel also explained why she would never change her surname. Consequently, many questioned whether his new partner could ever become Rachel Kolisi.
Amid the online debate, Rachel John posted a TikTok that drew attention. In the clip, she lip-synced: “Always remember that you are the prize”. Soon after, viewers criticised the timing of the video.

She said: “I’m good by myself. I don’t think I’ve ever been better by myself”.
She added, “That needs to be a conversation on its own. Just the fact that, why is it considered moving on only when you’re with somebody else? And why is your value only attached when you’re with someone else?”
