ZIFA Raises Concern Over Illegal Use of Branding

The association said its intellectual property assets include trademarks such as logos, crests, names, symbols and slogans, as well as designs used on replica regalia and related merchandise.

ZIFA also highlighted concerns over the use of social media accounts and handles incorporating elements linked to the association’s identity.

According to the football body, some individuals and businesses have been producing and selling unauthorised merchandise, publishing ZIFA content without approval and distributing products bearing the organisation’s branding.

Seven-Day Deadline Issued

ZIFA warned those involved in the sale or distribution of unauthorised goods to immediately stop their activities and remove the merchandise from the market within seven days.

The association said all offending products must be withdrawn by May 27, 2026.

The football governing body also warned against importing or exporting goods carrying ZIFA branding without approval.

Legal Action Looms

In the statement, ZIFA said anyone continuing to use its intellectual property assets without authorisation risks facing legal action.

The association urged individuals and entities involved in the unauthorised use of its material to “cease, refrain and desist” from the conduct immediately.
