Bigger Investment for Member Associations
According to ZIFA, FIFA has approved a new funding structure that will see each member association receive US$2.5 million annually during the next funding cycle.
The world football governing body said the increased allocation is designed to support the growth of the sport through improved infrastructure, stronger governance systems, capacity building initiatives and broader development programmes across its 211 member associations.
Opportunity for Local Football Growth
For Zimbabwe, the enhanced funding presents an opportunity to accelerate efforts to transform the domestic football landscape.
The additional resources are expected to assist ZIFA in expanding grassroots football programmes, improving facilities, strengthening administrative structures and investing in technical development initiatives aimed at raising standards across the game.
The funding could also provide a significant boost to ongoing efforts to rebuild confidence in local football administration and create a stronger foundation for future success.
Four-Year Funding Cycle
The FIFA Forward 4.0 programme will run from 2027 to 2031, providing member associations with sustained financial support over a four-year period.
ZIFA believes the increased investment will play a crucial role in advancing football development in Zimbabwe while aligning the country with FIFA’s broader vision of growing the game at all levels.
The latest funding increase underscores FIFA’s commitment to ensuring that national associations have the resources needed to develop talent, strengthen institutions and improve football infrastructure for future generations.
