Wife’s Alleged Murder Plot Ends In Double Tragedy As Two Men Receive 20-Year Jail Terms

How Wife’s Alleged Murder Plot Ended In Double Tragedy And 20-Year Jail Terms

Two Bulawayo men have been sentenced to 20 years in prison each for the 2021 murder of a Nyamandlovu man in a case that ended in double tragedy after the victim’s wife, who was accused of orchestrating the killing, allegedly died by suicide before she could stand trial.

Ndabezinhle Sithole (28) and Brian Matinyadze (35) were convicted of murdering 27-year-old Anold Moyo by the High Court sitting at Hwange. The pair were sentenced on 15 July 2026, almost five years after the fatal attack at Harlesden Farm in Nyamandlovu on 31 July 2021.

Two Men Sentenced Over Nyamandlovu Murder

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said Anold Moyo was found dead inside his kitchen hut with multiple stab wounds to his stomach, neck, back, head and face.

Prosecutors said Moyo’s wife, Sitshengisiwe Moyo, initially reported his death to police and claimed he had been in the company of friends unknown to her.

However, investigators later uncovered evidence that pointed elsewhere.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said:

“Police investigations established that the two offenders, who were neighbours of Sitshengisiwe’s mother in Mzilikazi Township, Bulawayo, had travelled to Nyamandlovu on Sitshengisiwe’s invitation, purportedly to assist with farming activities.”

Police Recover Weapons And Stolen Property

The investigation later linked Sithole and Matinyadze to the killing.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the pair implicated Sitshengisiwe during the investigation.

Prosecutors said detectives also recovered key exhibits connected to the crime.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said:

“Further investigations led to the recovery of the weapons used to commit the murder, an axe head and a kitchen knife, as well as the deceased’s stolen mobile phone and tennis shoes.”

Wife Allegedly Died Before Facing Trial

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Sitshengisiwe was accused of conspiring with the two convicted men to murder her husband.

The prosecution said she allegedly died by suicide before she could appear in court to answer the allegations.

As a result, the allegations against her were never tested before a court and no judicial finding was made regarding her alleged involvement.

The sentencing of Sithole and Matinyadze brings to a close criminal proceedings against the two men over Anold Moyo’s murder. The case remains notable for its tragic outcome, with the alleged conspiracy ending before all accused persons could face trial.
