Highlanders FC Appoints Interim Leadership After Tragic Death Of Top Executives

Highlanders Football Club has appointed an interim leadership structure to ensure continuity following the tragic deaths of chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, vice chairman Sifiso Sitiba and executive committee member for finance Nkani Khoza.

The appointments were made after an emergency Highlanders board meeting chaired by board chairman Luke Mnkandla, as the Bulawayo giants continue mourning what they described as one of the darkest periods in the club’s history.

Kindman Ndlovu Takes Over As Acting Chairman

Executive committee member responsible for technical affairs, Kindman Ndlovu, has been appointed acting chairman and will lead the club’s operations during the mourning period.

Ndlovu will work closely with executive member for marketing Morgen Dube as the club seeks to maintain stability and ensure its daily activities continue without disruption.

The leadership changes come after the club lost three senior officials in a road accident along the Harare-Bulawayo Road near Mbembesi.

Board Members Assigned Key Responsibilities

Highlanders FC also announced that board member Elkanah Dube will oversee the club’s administration, while board secretary Matthew Sibindi will take charge of financial affairs.

The club said the temporary appointments were necessary to provide direction and maintain effective management during a difficult period.

These interim appointments are intended to ensure stability, continuity and the effective day-to-day running of the Club during this difficult period of mourning,” Highlanders said in a statement.

Highlanders Board Gives Interim Leadership Full Support

Highlanders FC said the interim leadership team had the full backing of the board, highlighting their experience and commitment to guiding the club while preserving the legacy of the departed officials.

“The Board has expressed full confidence in the interim leadership, whose experience, commitment and institutional knowledge will help guide the Club while it honours the legacy of its departed leaders,” the club said.

Permanent Appointments To Follow After Mourning Period

The club said substantive executive appointments will be made in line with the Highlanders Football Club Constitution once the mourning period has ended.

Highlanders added that the institution remains united in grief and committed to protecting the values, vision and legacy of those who dedicated themselves to the club.
