Willard Katsande Lands FC Oden Coaching Role As Grand Legacy Exit Row Continues

FC Oden Appoint Willard Katsande While Grand Legacy Contract Standoff Remains Unresolved

Former Warriors captain Willard Katsande has been unveiled as the new head coach of Northern Region Soccer League outfit FC Oden, even as uncertainty continues to surround his departure from Grand Legacy FC.

The appointment marks the latest chapter in Katsande’s coaching career, but it comes against the backdrop of an unresolved contractual dispute with his former employers.

FC Oden Confirm Katsande Appointment

FC Oden officially introduced Katsande as their new coach, with Itai Chiwara joining the technical team as his assistant.

The club’s announcement signals confidence in the former Zimbabwe international, who now takes charge of the ambitious Northern Region side as they seek to strengthen their campaign.

Katsande’s arrival comes only days after his exit from Grand Legacy became the subject of a contractual disagreement.

Grand Legacy Insists Contract Still Binding

The dispute began after Katsande tendered his resignation with immediate effect. However, Grand Legacy rejected the manner of his departure, arguing that he failed to honour the terms of his contract.

The club maintained that he was required to serve a 30-day notice period before leaving his position.

In correspondence signed by club president Panganai Nyamayaro, Grand Legacy acknowledged receiving the resignation but stated that the contract remained valid throughout the notice period.

Club Reassigned Katsande Before Exit

Rather than releasing him immediately, Grand Legacy reassigned Katsande from head coach to assistant coach for the duration of the notice period.

Under the arrangement, he was expected to work under newly appointed head coach Paul Chimalizeni until his contract was formally concluded.

Despite the club’s position, Katsande has now taken up a new role at FC Oden, raising fresh questions about the status of the contractual disagreement.

New Challenge Begins

For Katsande, the move offers an opportunity to begin afresh with FC Oden after a turbulent end to his time at Grand Legacy.

Whether the contractual wrangle is resolved amicably or escalates further remains to be seen, but for now, the former Warriors skipper has already embarked on his next coaching assignment.
