Former Warriors captain Willard Katsande has taken charge of a new coaching role at FC Oden. However, his contractual dispute with Grand Legacy FC remains unresolved.
The Northern Region Soccer League side confirmed Katsande’s arrival shortly after his disagreement with his former club became public.
Grand Legacy FC previously rejected Katsande’s immediate resignation. The club argued that he needed to complete a 30-day notice period.
Katsande begins new coaching journey
Katsande’s move to FC Oden marks another step in his transition into coaching. The former Zimbabwe international now begins a fresh challenge with the club.
However, his exit from Grand Legacy has created tension between both parties. Documents seen by Soccer24 revealed details of the disagreement.
Grand Legacy claimed Katsande breached his contract by leaving immediately. The club stated that he should have remained during the notice period.
In a letter signed by club president Panganai Nyamayaro, Grand Legacy confirmed receiving Katsande’s resignation. Nevertheless, the club maintained that his contract obligations remained active.
FC Oden appoints Katsande alongside Chiwara
As the dispute continued, Grand Legacy changed Katsande’s role. The club moved him from head coach to assistant coach.
He was expected to work with newly appointed head coach Paul Chimalizeni during the remaining notice period. After that period, his contract would officially end.
Despite the unresolved matter, FC Oden has now unveiled Katsande as their new coach. He will work alongside assistant coach Itai Chiwara.
The appointment gives Katsande an opportunity to focus on his coaching ambitions. Meanwhile, the contractual disagreement with Grand Legacy continues.
