Scottland FC Guaranteed US$100,000 Windfall Ahead Of CAF Champions League Campaign
Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC are set to receive a financial boost of at least US$100,000 after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed a solidarity payment for clubs competing in the 2026/27 interclub competitions.
The guaranteed payment means Zimbabwe’s representatives will earn the amount simply by taking part in the CAF Champions League, even if they fail to progress beyond the preliminary rounds.

CAF Introduces Solidarity Payments
CAF announced that every club eliminated during the preliminary stages of both the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup will receive a US$100,000 solidarity payment.
The initiative forms part of the continental football body’s efforts to strengthen club football across Africa by providing greater financial support to participating teams.
The announcement was made ahead of the preliminary round draw, which is scheduled to take place at CAF headquarters in Cairo on Thursday, August 6.
Scottland Await Continental Opponents
Scottland secured their place in Africa’s premier club competition after lifting the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title.
The upcoming draw will reveal the Zimbabwean champions’ first opponents as they begin their quest to reach the lucrative group stages of the CAF Champions League.
Bigger Rewards On Offer
CAF has also increased prize money for the 2026/27 interclub competitions, significantly raising the financial incentives for clubs that advance deep into the tournaments.
The winners of the CAF Champions League will receive US$6 million, while the champions of the CAF Confederation Cup will pocket US$4 million.
The enhanced prize structure is expected to boost competition across the continent and provide clubs with greater resources to invest in their squads and long-term development.
