Two IDs And Alleged Drugs: New Details Emerge In Mnangagwa Daughter-In-Law Case
President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s daughter-in-law, Kelsea Tadiwa Tafirenyika, has been hit with a new allegation in her drug case, with police claiming she was found with two national identity documents.
Tafirenyika, 22, appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa on Friday, 7 August 2026, as her bail application was heard. She will remain in custody after the magistrate postponed the ruling to Wednesday, 12 August.
The latest allegation emerged as the State opposed her release on bail.
Police Allege Tafirenyika Had Two IDs
The investigating officer told the court that detectives allegedly recovered two identity cards bearing different names but linked to Tafirenyika.
One was allegedly in the name of Kelsea Tadiwa Tafirenyika, while the other reportedly bore the name Gertrude Badza.
The officer said Civil Registry checks identified Tafirenyika as the genuine identity, while the other name allegedly did not appear on the database.
Police also allege that drugs and used syringes were found in her bedroom at her Greystone Park home.
Tafirenyika is jointly charged with Isaac Arab Jessub. Both have denied the allegations.
Court Orders Medical Examinations
The case also took another turn after the two accused complained that police officers assaulted them during their arrest.
Their lawyer, Malvern Mapako, told the court that a medical examination had been ordered.
“The court has ordered that Tafirenyika and her co-accused be medically examined after they raised complaints against police officers,” Mapako said.
The defence alleges the pair were beaten, had their phones taken and were forced to sign seizure certificates. The investigating officer denied the claims.
Tafirenyika was arrested on 4 August after police allegedly recovered more than 200 ampoules of pethidine and morphine from her bedroom. Five rolls of cannabis were also allegedly found in her Lamborghini.
The State says investigations are continuing and is opposing bail.
The magistrate is expected to rule on the bail application on 12 August.
