Pitso Mosimane has revealed how Carlo Ancelotti influenced his approach to building a successful coaching team.
The South African coach recently returned to the Bafana Bafana setup with huge expectations surrounding his appointment.
Mosimane understands the pressure, having previously guided South Africa to major success during his first spell.
Now, he appears ready to use a proven formula inspired by Real Madrid boss Ancelotti.
Mosimane follows Ancelotti’s winning formula
Mosimane pointed to Ancelotti’s decision to keep his son, Davide, within his coaching setup.
Davide Ancelotti has worked alongside his father throughout several successful managerial spells.
Together, they have celebrated numerous trophies while developing a strong understanding of each other’s methods.
Mosimane believes familiarity and trust can also strengthen his own technical team.
“I’ll tell you about Ancelotti. You know who he takes with? He takes his son. And they have won a lot of trophies.
“If I had my son next to me here instead of…I think you would be saying some other things.”
The Bafana coach clearly values people who understand his football philosophy.

Experience could drive Bafana Bafana success
Mosimane also highlighted the experience within his current coaching staff.
He believes that familiarity will help his team implement his methods more effectively.
“I have people that have done FIFA World Cup with me here – four of them.
“And it’s the people who understand the way I work, the way we work. We work differently.
“From South Africa, in the continent, even over the continent beyond the borders of the continent.
“So, I have the people that I think can support me.”
That experience could prove crucial as Mosimane attempts to restore Bafana Bafana’s competitive edge.
Importantly, he is not simply assembling familiar faces for convenience.
Instead, Mosimane wants trusted coaches who understand his methods and can challenge the team effectively.
Ancelotti’s example shows how continuity can become a powerful advantage at the highest level.
Therefore, Mosimane will hope his own trusted team can help deliver another successful Bafana Bafana era.
