Ex-Studio 263 Actor In US$250k Fraud Case Involving 105 Buyers Removed From Remand
Former Studio 263 actor Revlino Gwanzura has been removed from remand in a US$250,000 (approximately R4.13 million) fraud case involving 105 alleged buyers after the State failed to provide him with a trial date within a reasonable period.
Gwanzura Accused In Residential Stands Deal
Gwanzura, who played Mr Black on Studio 263, was facing allegations linked to Enhanced Mortgaging Housing (Private) Limited.
The State alleged that between January 2024 and August 2025, Gwanzura was the overall person in charge of the company while one of its directors was ill.
He was accused of working with Gondai Marange, the late director’s son, to advertise residential stands for sale despite allegedly knowing that the company was not selling the stands.
The State alleged that 105 people paid instalments after responding to the advertisement.
According to The Herald, the alleged payments eventually totalled US$250,000 (R4.13 million).
Fake Receipts Allegedly Exposed Scheme
The allegations reportedly came to light after the company’s director returned to work in March 2025.
People allegedly began approaching the company demanding their residential stands. They reportedly presented receipts which the complainant said did not belong to the company.
An internal audit based on the receipts allegedly placed the company’s prejudice at US$250,000 (R4.13 million).
The State’s case alleged:
“The duo allegedly collected instalments from 105 individuals, accumulating a total of US$250 000, which they then converted to their own use.”
Court Removes Actor From Remand
Harare Regional Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa removed Gwanzura from remand on 2 September 2026.
The State can still pursue the matter by summons if it intends bringing him back before the court.
