City of Tshwane braces for water supply interruptions

Tshwane residents have been warned to brace themselves for possible water supply interruptions due to a power trip at Rand Water’s Mapleton Booster Pumping Station on Sunday.

It is reported that a faulty surge arrestor caused the trip. Rand Water says the power failure has affected several reservoirs.

Tshwane’s spokesperson Selby Bokaba says the team is working diligently to address the power issue.

“If power is not restored at the Mapleton Booster pumping station, areas in the East of Tshwane will not have water supply as pumping will not take place.”

The Mapleton Booster pumping station pumps water to Rand Water’s reservoirs in the east of the City and in turn supplies water to the City of Tshwane’s reservoirs.
