Zimbabwe Fuel Prices Rise Again As Diesel Surpasses US$2 Per Litre
Zimbabwean motorists are facing higher fuel costs after the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) introduced new prices, with diesel now costing more than US$2 per litre.
The revised prices took effect on Thursday, 17 September 2026, marking another increase from the previous month’s levels.

Diesel Records Bigger Increase
The price of Diesel 50 has been raised from US$1.95 to US$2.08 per litre, an increase of 13 US cents.
In local currency, the new maximum price is ZiG55.57 per litre, compared with the previous ZiG52.10.
The adjustment translates to an increase of about 6.7 percent, making diesel the first of the two listed fuel products to move above the US$2 mark.
Blend Petrol Also Goes Up
The price of Blend E20 petrol has also been adjusted upwards, rising from US$1.99 to US$2.06 per litre.
The new local-currency price is ZiG54.97 per litre, up from ZiG53.06.
This represents a 7 US-cent increase, equivalent to about 3.5 percent.
ZERA Says Prices Remain Under Review
ZERA said it would continue monitoring fuel prices and reviewing them in line with prevailing conditions.
The regulator also noted that government interventions remain in place to cushion consumers from the effects of global geopolitical developments.
The latest adjustment means motorists now face higher costs when filling up, with both Diesel 50 and Blend E20 priced above US$2 per litre at the prescribed maximum rates.
ZERA clarified that the published figures are maximum allowable prices, meaning individual service stations can charge less depending on their trading circumstances.
