Glen View Tragedy: Couple Dead Hours After Marriage Counselling As Lover Hospitalised
A Glen View couple was found dead in their bedroom on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, hours after they had reportedly sought counselling over marital problems, while a man allegedly linked to an infidelity dispute was admitted to hospital following an alleged assault.
Nyasha Mhungu, 36, and his wife, Olga Muzhingi, 31, died at their Glen View home under circumstances that are now being investigated by police. Several items were reportedly recovered from their bedroom as detectives began piecing together what happened during the night.
The deaths have also brought renewed attention to allegations of infidelity and tensions that had reportedly affected the couple’s marriage.
Couple Sought Counselling Hours Before Deaths
According to H-Metro, Nyasha and Olga had approached their church leader, Apostle Hardlow Chikaka of Baptism of Fire International Ministries, for counselling on Tuesday.
A neighbour claimed the couple had previously reported their marital problems to police before the church leader became involved.
The neighbour alleged that Nyasha became angry after discovering messages on Olga’s cellphone which he believed were connected to another man.
The neighbour said Nyasha confronted the alleged lover and assaulted him, leaving him hospitalised.
The neighbour said:
“As we speak, the suspected lover is admitted at hospital after he was assaulted by Nyasha for dating his wife.”
The neighbour further claimed that Nyasha spent much of Tuesday with Apostle Chikaka for counselling before he was allegedly seen confronting Olga later that evening.
“In the evening, Nyasha was spotted beating Olga, questioning her about the alleged lover, but we did not think it would end this way.”
Police have not established publicly that the alleged affair was the cause of the couple’s deaths.
Axe And Blood-Stained Stool Among Police Exhibits
Investigators reportedly removed several items from the bedroom as they examined the scene.
These included an axe, a shambok, Olga’s cellphone and a stool reportedly stained with blood.
The presence of the axe attracted attention in the neighbourhood, although there was no immediate confirmation that it had been used in the deaths.
Police also secured the scene and removed the bodies for post-mortem examinations.
The post-mortem process is expected to help establish the cause of death and provide investigators with further evidence about what happened inside the bedroom.
Family members also reportedly told police about unresolved issues surrounding lobola.
One relative alleged that Nyasha had not paid lobola despite having lived with Olga for about nine years.
However, Olga’s brother, Nebert Muzhingi, described the couple as generally peaceful despite experiencing marital problems from time to time.
He said:
“We were shocked since the two have been living a peaceful life, although in marriage issues arise here and there.”
He added that the family had lost two people who were “loving” and dedicated to their church.
Six-Year-Old Daughter Discovered Grim Scene
The couple’s six-year-old daughter was reportedly the first person to enter the bedroom in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to relatives, the child had reportedly gone to her parents after being disciplined by her grandmother over her blankets.
She allegedly entered the bedroom and saw her father vomiting.
The child then reportedly ran back to her grandmother and told her what she had seen.
A relative said the family was alerted and rushed to the house at around 6am.
By the time relatives arrived, both Nyasha and Olga were dead.
The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation.
The Glen View tragedy comes amid several other recent cases in Zimbabwe involving couples and alleged domestic disputes.
Earlier in September, Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission commissioner Martin Muduva was killed at his Dzivarasekwa home, with his wife, Lyliosa Chirara, later dying by suicide.
This week, Harare man Stephen Sarurai was also remanded in custody over allegations that he strangled his wife, Zvikomborero Tari, following an alleged dispute involving infidelity.
In the Glen View case, however, police investigations are still ongoing and the exact sequence of events that led to the deaths of Nyasha and Olga has not yet been established.
The investigation is expected to focus on the evidence recovered from the bedroom, the couple’s reported marital problems, the alleged assault on the suspected lover and the findings of the post-mortem examinations.
