Lance Corporal Senelisiwe Magagula has been identified among those killed in Wicknell Chivayo’s helicopter crash.
Magagula was reportedly serving as Lucy “Lulu” Muteki’s security aide when tragedy struck.
Zimbabwean authorities identified her among the five people aboard the Bell 430 helicopter.
The aircraft crashed in Marondera while travelling from Chikomba towards Harare.
However, questions have emerged about the identity of Lulu’s security aide.
Reports indicate Magagula was a trained soldier who served in civilian clothing while performing security duties.
From Lupane to the Zimbabwe National Army
Magagula reportedly came from Lupane before choosing a military career.
She completed her Basic Military Training at Imbizo Barracks in Bulawayo.
After completing her training, she reportedly volunteered for further training as a paratrooper.
That decision reflected a willingness to undertake demanding military preparation.
She reportedly passed the screening phase before advancing to the pre-selection tests.
The tests placed significant demands on candidates’ physical fitness and discipline.
Magagula then progressed through specialised paratrooper training.
The training included parachute jumps, height exercises and techniques for landing safely.
She ultimately earned the maroon beret associated with airborne military training.
Her military background therefore set her apart from an ordinary security guard.
The soldier who protected Lulu
Magagula reportedly became part of Lulu’s security detail while wearing civilian clothing.
Her presence offered protection without necessarily drawing public attention.
That role also required discipline, physical strength and readiness.

Magagula died alongside Chivayo, Lulu and pilots Captain Kelvin T. Soda and Captain Courage Mutavirwa.
