Makamba and Matasva had reportedly been experiencing longstanding marital problems, with the husband allegedly accusing his wife of cheating.
Sources familiar with the matter said the tensions boiled over on Sunday, resulting in a violent confrontation.
Makamba allegedly attacked Matasva with a hammer, repeatedly striking her on the head and face and leaving her with severe injuries.
“She bled profusely and is believed to have died at the scene,” said the source.
The source alleged that Makamba fled the house after realising the gravity of what had happened, leaving his wife’s body and their two minor children behind.

The incident came to light after a fellow tenant returned home at around 6.10pm and encountered the couple’s distressed children.
The tenant said the children were crying uncontrollably and reported that their mother had died.
