2027 Form One Boarding School Applications Not Yet Open, Ministry Warns Parents

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has urged parents to ignore reports claiming that applications for 2027 Form One places at Government boarding schools are now open, clarifying that the electronic application platform is still closed.

The clarification follows reports of parents encountering technical problems while trying to register their children after the Grade Seven public examinations ended.

The Ministry said the Electronic Ministry Application Platform (eMAP) is tentatively expected to open during the week starting November 9, although the exact launch date has not yet been announced.

Ministry Sets Tentative Opening Date

In a statement issued yesterday, the Ministry’s Director of Communications and Advocacy, Mr Taungana Ndoro, said parents would be notified through official channels once the opening date had been finalised.

“The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education wishes to inform the public that eMAP for 2027 Form One boarding enrolment applications is not yet open,” Mr Ndoro said.

“The actual date will be advised later.”

The announcement means parents will have to wait for further communication from the Ministry before attempting to submit applications through the online system.

How The eMAP System Works

The electronic platform was introduced to make the Form One boarding school application process more convenient for parents and guardians.

Through the system, applicants can enter learners’ details and indicate their preferred Government boarding schools without having to travel to individual institutions to make enquiries or submit applications in person.

Its digital approach is intended to simplify the admissions process and make school selection more accessible.

Parents Warned Against Fake Application Links

Meanwhile, Mr Ndoro cautioned parents against falling victim to fraudulent online activities and misleading messages purporting to offer early access to the application portal.

Parents have been urged to rely on official Ministry communication for accurate information about the opening date and application process.

The Ministry’s clarification comes as families prepare for the transition of learners from primary to secondary education following the completion of the Grade Seven examinations.
