Oscar Mbo speaks on claims he is rude to other artists

“I’m a humble guy, I respect people, and there’s a lot of confusion. It’s normal how people process things. People support who they want and attend to facts later, but truth always prevails.”

These are the words of house DJ Oscar Mbo, responding to recent allegations accusing him of being rude and arrogant towards fellow artists performing after him at events. Oscar Mbo has found himself at the center of controversy, with accusations arising from two separate incidents, both sparking heated reactions on social media.

The latest controversy occurred at the Cultural Urban Festival Africa in Bloemfontein, where Oscar Mbo and popular artist Makhadzi were part of the lineup. Makhadzi, a crowd favorite known for her high-energy performances, publicly accused Oscar of sabotaging her set.

According to Makhadzi, Oscar’s DJ removed her USB stick while she was still performing, which abruptly cut her set short, leaving her and her fans frustrated and disappointed.

Makhadzi took to social media to express her frustration and offer an apology to her fans. “I am sorry to perform 20 minutes. I don’t know if this is all about Oscar Mbo PR trend, but why in such crazy moments when people paid money to see us?

Unfortunately, Oscar Mbo’s DJ removed my USB when I was about to finish,” she wrote. This message quickly garnered attention from both her supporters and fans of Oscar Mbo, leading to a public debate over what had transpired during the event.

This was not the only incident involving Oscar Mbo that made headlines recently. He was also accused of forcibly removing rising star Kharisma from the stage during her performance at a music festival in Limpopo. Reports surfaced that Kharisma had been performing when Oscar allegedly intervened, leading to an early end to her set. Fans of Kharisma were outraged, further fueling the narrative that Oscar was disrespectful to fellow performers.

Oscar Mbo, however, has dismissed these claims, asserting that the event organizers should have taken responsibility for clearing up the misunderstandings. Speaking to a publication, Oscar explained, “Yes, in all honesty, event organizers are the ones that gather us under one roof to trade.

They are in charge of the shows, time slots, and operations as a whole. So having their say on these things would clear up a lot of confusion on situations that happen during shows, which end up getting artists fighting among themselves.” He expressed disappointment that organizers had not stepped in to clarify the events and prevent tensions between artists.

When asked whether these controversies would affect his bookings in Bloemfontein and Limpopo, Oscar was confident and optimistic. “Yes, entirely. I already have a lot of bookings lined up. Situations that happened with me and artists can happen to anyone, so it’s crucial to always mend what’s broken and focus on the future,” he said. Oscar emphasized that such issues are not uncommon in the music industry and should not be blown out of proportion.

Despite the public outcry, Oscar remains committed to maintaining a positive working relationship with the artists involved. “I was the one who ensured that I am in a good space with these artists that are mentioned, and I did that for harmony among us and for the future and working relationships,” Oscar said, highlighting his efforts to foster peace and understanding among his colleagues. He emphasized that resolving conflicts and focusing on the bigger picture is essential for sustaining healthy collaborations within the industry.

As the dust begins to settle, it remains to be seen whether these incidents will have any lasting impact on Oscar Mbo’s career or his relationships with fellow artists like Makhadzi and Kharisma. For now, both he and the artists involved appear to be moving forward, with their eyes set on future performances and collaborations.
