Forgiven by the Family: Chillmaster Pledges to Pay School Fees, Buy Monthly Groceries for Late Victim’s Family and Beasts to Avoid Avenging Spirits
Zimbabwean musician Chillmaster has pledged to take care of the victims children and provide for his family following a tragic accident that claimed Custon Charumbira’s life
This emerged during trial yesterday which saw Chillmaster being handed a wholly suspended two-year sentence and fined US$200 for killing a pedestrian while driving without a licence.

Victim’s Family Forgives Chillmaster
Acdording to ZimLive, the victim’s relative, Lucia Charumbira, told the court during sentencing that the family had already forgiven the musician.
She added that Chillmaster had supported them throughout the funeral and continued to show compassion long after.
Chillmaster to Offer Beasts in Line with Tradition to Avert Avenging Spirits
Lucia Charumbira, told the court that Chillmaster had also committed to paying a number of beasts as part of traditional rites to help prevent avenging spirits from haunting the family. In many Zimbabwean cultures, such gestures are seen as essential acts of restitution following an unnatural death.
“The family, through Lucia Charumbira, said he has undertaken to pay some beasts to avoid avenging spirits,” Magistrate Tatenda Mukurunge revealed

Musician Commits to Pay School Fees and Buy Monthly Groceries for Late Victim’s Children
In a heartfelt gesture that moved both the family and the court, Chillmaster undertook to pay school fees for the deceased’s children until they complete their education.
He also committed to providing monthly groceries.
“He also undertook to send the deceased’s children to school and also to buy monthly groceries,” said Magistrate Tatenda Mukurunge.
