Panic gripped Bulawayo’s city centre on the afternoon of Sunday, 11 May, as a suspected armed robbery took place at the popular Crystal Lounge.
According to witnesses, plain-clothed CID Homicide detectives stormed the scene with guns drawn shortly after receiving reports that armed suspects had targeted the trendy nightspot.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but the situation caused a stir as detectives sealed off the area.
Club owner Phathisani Nkomo, who rushed to the scene, said he was alerted by one of his employees who hid in a closet and made a desperate call for help. Nkomo immediately notified the police, prompting the swift response.
As of now, it is believed the suspects are still inside the building, which has since been locked down by authorities.
