Chipo Muchegwa Cries Out After Theft of Wheelchair Charger and Phone

Beloved songstress Chipo Muchegwa is reeling after falling victim to a distressing theft that has disrupted her daily life. The Ndezvemoyo singer revealed on Monday, 19 May, that her handbag had been stolen—along with her mobile phone and, more crucially, the charger for her wheelchair.

Taking to her official Facebook page, Chipo shared the emotional impact of the incident, explaining that while the phone could be replaced, the missing wheelchair charger was essential to her mobility and independence. She made a heartfelt plea to the thief to return it.

“Guys munhu akaba handbag yangu pliz chidzosaawo charger ye wheelchair horyt phone tora hako sure ndinofamba nei am stressed guys,” she wrote.

Her post triggered an emotional response from fans and concerned followers, many of whom condemned the heartless act and offered to step in.

Here are some of the comments:

On Wednesday, 21 May, Chipo gave a hopeful update. After asking around in town, she managed to locate a store that sells the same wheelchair charger. However, the price tag of US$200 was a steep one.

She thanked those who had already offered to assist and expressed gratitude in advance to anyone else considering lending a hand. Chipo Muchegwa wrote:

“Hey guys kune vaibvunza about the wheelchair charger ndaiwana mtown ku parerenyatwa pqna leopord takawira panotengeswa ma wheelchair and ts going for $200 thank u kune vachabatsira.”
