Thomas Chizhanje Allegedly Threatened After Calling Out Parirenyatwa Hospital
Popular social media personality Thomas Chizhanje says he’s receiving threats after exposing alleged negligence at one of Zimbabwe’s biggest public hospitals. According to Chizhanje, someone called him from a private number and warned him to stop posting his followers’ disturbing experiences at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Chizhanje: “Zim Is a Big Joke”
Over the past few days, Chizhanje’s Facebook page has been flooded with stories from followers who claim their loved ones died under questionable circumstances after receiving care at Parirenyatwa. Many of the posts point to medical negligence or delays in treatment.
But his outspoken criticism rattled some, especially those aligned with the ruling party, ZANU PF.
After receiving what appeared to be a threat from a ZANU PF-affiliated Facebook page named Zanu PF Youths Supporters, Chizhanje laughed off the drama in a post:
“Just got a call from a private number asking me to stop the Pari posts. Haya Zim is a big Joke 
”
In a long post shared by Zanu PF Youths Supporters, the page downplayed the medical negligence allegations and suggested that people die because “it’s their time.” The post also defended the hospital, stating that its staff are doing their best and accused Chizhanje of pushing an anti-hospital agenda.
Here’s what they argued:
“Thomas Chizhanje Page has been posting many unverified stories eku Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals. Handishandeko hangu asi ndoziva kuti basa rechipatara huru kuraramisa vanenge vauya vachirwara. Few weeks ago I visited Parirenyatwa Hospital, ndakaona ma poster akanzi WE TREAT GOD HEALS.I understand kuti kurasikirwa nehama neshamwari kunorwadza,ndozvakaisirwa rufu.Asi blaming a hospital kuti sei hama yangu yafa is not just ok. Ndakambotaura before kuti chinouraya hausi hurwere,kushaya mapiritsi or accident.Chinouraya inguva.
The attacks on Parirenyatwa should stop, I advice the hospital to take legal action against Thomas Chizhanje. Social media yakaiswa kuti tinosangana and socialize tichizivana and making new friends not to attack the biggest hospital in our country.
