Pokello’s Son Nathan Mutasa Replaces Dynamos Star in Zimbabwe’s 2025 COSAFA Cup Squad
Football fans were caught by surprise after the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) announced the inclusion of Pokello Nare’s son and Scottland FC midfielder Nathan Mutasa into the Warriors squad for the 2025 COSAFA Cup.
The tournament will take place from 4 June, with Zimbabwe placed in Group A alongside hosts South Africa, as well as Mauritius and Mozambique.
Nathan Mutasa Added to Zimbabwe’s 2025 COSAFA Cup Squad
Mutasa was initially omitted from the initial squad, but his club, Scottland FC, announced his inclusion via social media. The public broadcaster ZBC also confirmed the inclusion of Mutasa in the 2025 COSAFA Cup squad as a replacement for Dynamos player Vusa Ngwenya. No reason was given as to why Ngwenya was replaced. Zimbabwe’s 2025 COSAFA Cup squad mainly consists of U20 players. ZBC posted:
“The Warriors technical team has called up 21-year-old Scotland midfielder Nathan Mutasa to join the 2025 COSAFA Cup squad, replacing Dynamos’ Vusa Ngwenya.”
