Chiefs, Pirates, or Sundowns? Percy Tau Names His Salary to Return to the PSL
Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau has finally spoken out about his future, and he’s made it clear: if a local club wants him, they’ll have to pay.
Tau, who recently parted ways with Qatar SC, is now a free agent and is looking for his next move ahead of the 2025/26 season. Speaking to Robert Marawa on Marawa Sports Worldwide on 947, the 31-year-old forward laid out what it would take to bring him back to the Premier Soccer League — and possibly to a club like Kaizer Chiefs.

Tau didn’t beat around the bush — if a PSL team offers him a R450,000 monthly salary with a two-year deal and a one-year extension option, he’s open to signing.
He admitted he doesn’t have a flood of offers right now, so he’s willing to consider anything reasonable.
“Gauteng might not be be place, Gauteng might be the place, I’m not going to sit here and behave like I got too many options. I will listen if there are offers, I’m not ruling out anyone. There’s a lot to take in, to consider – you have to consider age, how long the contract is and then family,” Tau said on Marawa Sports Worldwide.

Chiefs, Pirates, Sundowns? He’s Listening to Everyone
Tau also addressed rumours linking him to Kaizer Chiefs — a club he supported growing up. He said if an offer came through, he’d take it seriously.
However, he made it clear he’s not tied to one team. He mentioned that he still has a soft spot for Mamelodi Sundowns, where he enjoyed a successful spell, but he won’t say no to anyone, not even Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch, or SuperSport United.
“If that situation were to happen, I would pay attention to it. But there are still other clubs in the PSL, I mean I played for Sundowns, so I cannot write them off. It’s a team that I played for, I won and I’ve got so much love for the team and the fans. If Sundowns were not to offer me a contract and Chiefs does, then okay, it won’t be my fault but theirs that I’ve gone to join Chiefs. But I’ll listen to anybody, let’s not rule out Orlando Pirates or even Stellenbosch, SuperSport, I will not rule out anyone. But, my decision will be based on who gives me a contract because at the end of the day I still have to support my family.”
