WATCH: Air India Plane Carrying 242 People Crashes in Ahmedabad Minutes After Take Off
A London-bound Air India plane carrying over 240 passengers and crew crashed today in Ahmedabad’s Meghani area.
The passenger plane crashed in a residential area just meters away from Ahmedabad airport.
Air India Confirms Plane Accident
Air India confirmed the horror accident in a statement, stating;
“Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025. At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest.”
Dramatic Footage Emerges as Dreamliner Crashes Minutes After Take-Off
The Boeing Dreamliner plane reportedly took off at around 1:47 PM, slightly behind schedule. It is believed to have crashed just nine minutes after receiving clearance for take-off.
Videos capturing the moment the plane took off and subsequently crashed have since emerged on social media.
In videos shared social media, fire erupted from the plane as soon as it crashed in what appeared to be a building. Heavy black smoke was seen coming from the accident site.
Aviation Minister ‘Shocked and Devastated’ by Plane Accident
Reacting to the tragic crash, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu expressed deep sorrow, stating;
“Shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad. We are on highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action.”
The Minister assured the public that the government is on the highest alert and that he is personally overseeing the response. He confirmed that all aviation and emergency services have been instructed to act swiftly and in coordination to manage the crisis and assist those affected.
“Rescue teams have been mobilised, and all efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are being rushed to the site…”
