ZIFA cracks down on ZIFASOL, suspends unauthorised football activities with immediate effect
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has announced the immediate suspension of all football activities being organised under the Zimbabwe Football Federation for Amateur and Social Leagues (ZIFASOL), citing serious violations of its regulations.
In a strongly worded statement issued on 16 June 2025, ZIFA revealed that ZIFASOL’s application for membership had been rejected, yet the body continued to operate without approval.
“ZIFA wishes to inform the public and all football stakeholders that the application by the Zimbabwe Football Federation for Amateur and Social Leagues (ZIFASOL) for membership to ZIFA was not approved,” the statement read.
ZIFA orders halt to all ZIFASOL-run activities
According to ZIFA, ZIFASOL has been conducting area zone football and training courses without proper authorisation, amounting to what ZIFA describes as “parallel administration of football.”
“It has, however, come to the Association’s attention that ZIFASOL continues to organise football activities at the area zone level without the necessary authority,” the statement continued.
“Furthermore, ZIFASOL has been conducting football training courses without accreditation or approval from ZIFA. The public is therefore advised that any football training or education programmes conducted under ZIFASOL are not recognised and are hereby declared null and void.”
ZIFA highlighted that only it and its recognised members have the legal authority to oversee football at the area zone level in Zimbabwe. The unauthorised training courses also raised concern over player safety and quality of instruction.
Clubs told to realign or face consequences
In response to what it called a “direct violation” of its regulations, ZIFA has ordered all clubs and leagues under ZIFASOL to immediately realign themselves with the official ZIFA Area Zones structure.
“These activities constitute parallel administration of football, which is in direct violation of ZIFA regulations,” the association stated.
“All clubs and leagues previously affiliated with or participating in ZIFASOL competitions are directed to immediately align themselves with officially sanctioned ZIFA Area Zones structures.”
The association also called on all football stakeholders to respect the regulatory framework, reiterating its commitment to structured football development and governance.
“ZIFA remains committed to structured football development and calls on all stakeholders to respect and uphold the regulatory framework that governs the beautiful game in Zimbabwe.”
Anyone with questions has been encouraged to contact the nearest ZIFA office for clarity or guidance.
The suspension has sent shockwaves across the lower football leagues, with clubs now scrambling to ensure they comply with ZIFA’s directive. Some insiders say the suspension could affect dozens of fixtures and training programmes, potentially disrupting amateur football development.
