Panic as aircraft comes down in Mbire

Local villagers were left stunned as the aircraft came down suddenly. Mugonapanja village head, Tengo Mugonapanja, spoke to ZBC News and confirmed the incident.

“The plane was heading towards Kafuko Safaris in Mozambique from Harare when it crash-landed at the airstrip in our area,” said Mugonapanja.

Despite the drama, no one on board was injured.

“All ten people on board escaped without any injuries. It was a miracle. We were all shocked but relieved,” he added.

The aircraft sustained visible damage, but the full extent has not yet been officially assessed.

Pilot shaken, investigation pending

The cause of the crash is not yet known. Eyewitnesses described the pilot as “visibly shaken” after the incident.

“The pilot did not explain what caused the crash,” Mugonapanja told the state broadcaster.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has not yet issued a public statement. It remains unclear whether the incident was due to mechanical failure, weather conditions, or human error. [I cannot verify this]
