Elon Musk Launches New Political Party to Take On US “One-Party System”
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced the formation of a new political party in the United States, saying he’s had enough of what he calls a rigged political system run by both Republicans and Democrats.
Once a major backer of former President Donald Trump, even serving as the head of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk has now turned against his old ally. The two fell out after Trump pushed for a massive domestic spending plan that Musk believes will bury the country in debt.

Musk claims the bill will add $3.4 trillion to the national deficit over the next decade. Furious that lawmakers who promised to cut spending voted in favour of it, he launched a scathing attack on them.
He didn’t hold back. In a post earlier this week, Musk warned:
“They will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”
Musk has now launched his own political movement, the America Party, in an effort to shake up what he describes as a “fake two-party democracy.”
“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” the Space X and Tesla boss posted on X, the social media platform that he owns. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” he said.

Public Reaction and the “Uniparty” Meme
To mark US Independence Day, Musk ran a poll asking whether Americans wanted to break away from the two-party system. Over 1.2 million people responded. According to him, the results showed a strong desire for something new.
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!” he posted on Saturday.
He also shared a meme of a two-headed snake, symbolising Republicans and Democrats, with the caption: “End the Uniparty.”
It’s still too early to tell how Musk’s America Party will affect the 2026 midterm elections or the next presidential race in 2028. But one thing is clear: Musk is on a mission to punish politicians he believes betrayed their voters.
