The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC) has released a handy guide to prepaid meter short codes that will help customers better monitor and manage their electricity consumption.

The short codes allow prepaid meter users to check their instant, daily, or previous day’s power usage with just a few simple steps.

Consumers simply need to identify the type of prepaid meter installed in their premises—either Landis & Gyr, Inhemetre, Hexing, or Itron—and then enter the appropriate code followed by the “Enter” button on their meter keypad.

Short Codes for Each Meter Type

Below are the codes consumers can use:

  • Landis & Gyr Meters
    • Instant Power Usage: 001
    • Today’s Usage: 006
    • Previous Day’s Usage: 007
  • Inhemetre Meters
    • Instant Power Usage: 006
    • Today’s Usage: 081
    • Previous Day’s Usage: 082
  • Hexing Meters
    • Instant Power Usage: 808
    • Today’s Usage: 800
    • Previous Day’s Usage: 813
  • Itron Meters

According to ZETDC, these codes are intended to empower households to track electricity use in real time and make informed decisions about consumption.
