UK Opens New Visa Centre in Bulawayo
The United Kingdom has opened a second visa application centre in Zimbabwe, this time in Bulawayo, to complement the existing one in Harare. The move is part of broader efforts to improve travel access and deepen bilateral ties between the two countries.

The new premium visa centre, located at Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel, will operate every Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM.
British Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Pete Vowles, described the new centre as more than just a logistical addition — he said it represents a milestone in UK-Zimbabwe relations. Vowles said the UK wants to make it easier for people from southern Zimbabwe to apply for visas and strengthen partnerships between the two countries.
“The opening of our new visa centre in Bulawayo marks a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the UK and Zimbabwe. It will make travel more accessible for people in the southern region and open new pathways for trade, tourism, and investment. Most importantly, it reflects our commitment to deepening people-to-people connections and supporting the growing demand for partnership between our two nations.”
The first UK visa centre in Harare has been operational since November 2024.
VFS Global Expands Zimbabwe Presence
VFS Global, the company that handles UK visa applications in Zimbabwe, welcomed the expansion. Regional head Mr Alok Singhal said the goal is to bring services closer to people and meet growing demand from Zimbabweans travelling to the UK.
“This new centre enables us to serve the growing number of travellers to the UK, offering the same comfort, convenience, and best-in-class services as our world-class visa application centre in Harare,” he said.
VFS Global has been working with UK Visas and Immigration since 2003.
Those who use the Bulawayo or Harare centres will continue to enjoy value-added services, including help with document uploads, application status notifications, and home delivery of documents once the process is complete.
