Carlos Green Breaks Silence After Wives Clash Over Him
Afro-fusion musician Carlos Green has declared that he is officially a one-woman man, despite recent social media chaos suggesting he had two wives. The “Vane Mari Vauya” singer confirmed that he paid lobola, the traditional bride price, for both Melissa and Chloe, who is based in Australia, but insists that his relationship with Chloe is now over. This clarification comes after a public spat erupted online between the two women, both of whom had claimed Green as their husband.
Green spoke exclusively to H-Metro on September 25, 2025, to set the record straight amidst the swirling rumours.
Green Sets The Record Straight
Carlos Green was unequivocal about his current marital status. He confirmed the sequence of events that led to the current situation, acknowledging both relationships but drawing a clear line under the affair with Chloe.
He stated:
“To clarify, I was involved with both women but, currently, it’s over between me and Chloe. I did pay lobola for her (Chloe) after we got together in December and I can confirm she is pregnant with my child but we are no longer together. I am happily married to Melissa, my wife of 12 years, who has always been there for me. She is one of the special people who have shaped me as a man.”
Green expressed regret for the public drama and specifically apologised to Melissa, whom he described as a private person thrust into an unwanted spotlight. He explained that the situation escalated when Melissa began to respond to Chloe’s online posts after friends and followers repeatedly sent her pictures and videos of Green with Chloe.
A History Of Forgiving And Forgetting
According to Green, Melissa’s forgiveness is not a new phenomenon. He revealed a past indiscretion involving another lover, the late Shupikai Chapendama, also known as Shupie, who died in 2020 in the DRC. Green admitted Melissa was unaware of that affair at the time and only discovered it later. This revelation prompted him to formalise their union.
He explained:
“By the way, Melissa is the one I had from day one and she was not even aware that I was cheating on her when I lost my other lover, Shupie (Shupikai Chapendama), who died in 2020 in DRC. I had to fast-track my lobola with Melissa after realising that I was bound to lose her if I didn’t marry her. She forgave me, and we have been together again until this Chloe popped up.”
When pressed on whether he was, at any point, legally married to two women simultaneously, Green maintained his stance. He characterised his relationship with Chloe as a rushed affair that lacked depth.
“Like I said, I paid lobola for both women but, with Chloe, it’s over between us. We only met at a bar and rushed the whole thing but, deep down, there was no affection. In short, Melissa is my wife, and Chloe is carrying my child, as simple as that, my brother.”
Melissa Stands By Her Man
Despite the public humiliation, Melissa has come to her husband’s defence. In a statement that echoes Green’s account of her forgiving nature, she placed the blame squarely on Chloe. According to the H-Metro report, Melissa said, using the vernacular term “Ambuya ava” (This woman):
“Ambuya ava is bitter because she later found out that my husband was married. She is trying by all means to make him lose interest in me. I am not supporting my husband but I forgive him… Every man makes mistakes; who can trust a man who has never shamed himself?”
This show of support from his wife of 12 years appears to have solidified Green’s position. He concluded the interview by reflecting on his appeal, remarking, “I’m the ladies’ man, they just love me,” and suggesting that such attention from women has been a constant throughout his life, dating back to his high school days.
