ZRP Confirms Weekend Break-In At Kazembe Kazembe’s Office

A weekend raid at the office of Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe has sparked a major police investigation. Intruders targeted the high-security government office, leaving authorities scrambling for answers. The incident, which occurred over the weekend of 28 September 2025, is the latest in a string of security breaches affecting prominent political figures and their properties.

Intruders Knew Exactly Where To Go

National police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi officially confirmed the break-in. He stated that the Zimbabwe Republic Police are actively investigating the incident at the minister’s office.

According to The Daily News, Commissioner Nyathi revealed a crucial detail about the perpetrators’ behaviour:

“The intruders seemed to have proper knowledge or an idea of the offices’ layout. At this moment, I cannot disclose what was stolen as investigations are ongoing. However, it appears that the intruder or intruders had familiarity with the office setup and entry points.”

This raised further questions about the nature of the breach. While the complete list of missing items has not been released, reports suggest that government laptops and important documents were stolen.

A Pattern Of High-Profile Incidents

This is not the first time senior officials have been targeted. The Daily News reports that in 2024, a similar break-in occurred at the office of Deputy Tourism and Hospitality Minister Tongai Mnangagwa, where valuable items were taken.

In addition, security breaches were reported at the Borrowdale home of Kudakwashe David Mnangagwa, a cousin of the deputy minister.

The raid on Kazembe Kazembe’s office is particularly sensitive as it houses the country’s internal security portfolio.

Separate Fire At Tungwarara’s Elephant Lodge

In a separate but almost simultaneous development, the ZRP confirmed a fire at Elephant Lodge, located in Murambinda, Manicaland. The lodge belongs to Paul Tungwarara, a special adviser to the president. The fire occurred on 27 September.

Commissioner Nyathi confirmed the incident:

“Also I can confirm that Elephant Lodge which is located in Murambinda, Manicaland, and which is owned by special adviser to the president, Paul Tungwarara, was engulfed in fire on 27 September.”

He said investigators had already identified the cause.

“A forensic team was dispatched and investigation revealed that the fire was a result of an electrical fault.”

Police have stressed that the lodge fire was accidental, unlike the deliberate raid at Kazembe’s office. Both cases remain under active investigation.
