Kuwadzana Children Had No Missing Body Parts: ZRP Dismisses Claims In Viral Audios

Police Dismiss Viral Claims Over Kuwadzana Children’s Bodies

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed that the bodies of the three Kuwadzana children found in a car boot had no missing body parts, dismissing viral audio messages that suggested otherwise. The police made the clarification following widespread panic caused by disturbing claims circulating online.

Police Clarifies Condition Of The Bodies

In a statement issued on Sunday, 5 October 2025, police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi directly addressed rumours that the children’s bodies had been mutilated.

He said:

“For the record, the Zimbabwe Republic Police has no evidence that one or all of the victims had missing body parts. The Police is also coordinating a full post-mortem to be conducted on 6th October 2025 in Harare. The results will be made public in consultation with the families.”

This comes after an audio went viral in which a sobbing woman claimed the children’s eyes had been removed, sparking speculation that they had been killed for ritual and witchcraft purposes.

Police have urged the public to ignore such reports until official post-mortem results are released.

Warning Against False Claims

Authorities also raised concern over individuals using the tragedy to spread misinformation and to solicit money from the public.

Nyathi warned:

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police warns criminals who are now taking advantage of the Kuwadzana children’s tragedy to mobilise the public to deposit or send money into Ecocash and InnBucks accounts under the guise of assistance to the families, children’s missing body parts protest and holding of an illegal demonstration/gathering.”

The police also confirmed that the families had disowned Josphine Mutongi, who was allegedly using social media to push these claims.

Post-Mortem To Provide Answers

The three children, aged between one and three, went missing on 1 October 2025 in Kuwadzana Extension. Their bodies were discovered on 3 October 2025 inside the boot of a parked, broken-down Mercedes-Benz.

While speculation has spread in the community, police say the scheduled post-mortem on 6 October 2025 will provide official clarity on the cause of death.

Nyathi appealed for calm:

“The public should respect the privacy of the grieving families and in the process allow the Police to find out what exactly happened in this sad incident.”
