Highlanders Coach Pieter de Jongh Under Investigation for Accusing PSL of Favouring Dynamos

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has opened an investigation into Highlanders coach Pieter de Jongh after he claimed that the league gives an unfair advantage to Dynamos and other clubs.

His comments, made after Bosso’s Chibuku Super Cup semifinal loss, have now set off a storm that could have serious consequences for the outspoken Dutchman.

Post-Match Fury Sparks Controversy

De Jongh, visibly frustrated after the defeat, accused the league of mishandling fixtures and favouring certain teams in key decisions.

“There should be fairness. When teams are fighting for survival, they must all play at the same time. That’s how football is managed everywhere,” he said.

The remarks have been described by officials as damaging and potentially in breach of the league’s code of conduct.

PSL Responds and Warns of Possible Sanctions

Acting PSL chief executive Rodwell Thabe confirmed that the league has taken note of the allegations and is treating the matter seriously.

“We have taken note of the allegations made by the Highlanders coach against match officials and the fixturing schedule,” said Thabe. “If the coach is found to have breached PSL Rules and Regulations, he will be sanctioned. It’s misconduct to imply bias or question the integrity of the league.”

Thabe added that while the league tries to align matches during the final weeks of the season, stadium shortages often make simultaneous fixtures impossible.

Bosso’s Season Hangs in the Balance

The timing of the disciplinary process could not be worse for Highlanders, who are fighting to stay above the relegation line. Their next three fixtures — against Simba Bhora, Manica Diamonds, and Chicken Inn — will decide both their fate in the league and possibly De Jongh’s future at the club.

With tensions running high and results becoming more critical, Bosso must now manage both the survival battle on the field and the fallout from their coach’s comments off it.
