A seventh suspect in prominent businessman Mutangadura’s murder case has been hauled before the bench. Tarisai Terence Tetena found himself in the dock at the Harare Regional Magistrates Court, facing allegations of participating in the armed robbery that ended the prominent figure’s life.
Presiding Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa remanded the accused in custody, directing him to seek any future bail applications through the High Court due to the serious nature of the charges.
This latest court appearance intensifies the spotlight on a criminal gang believed to be responsible for a string of violent offences. Just last week, two other men, Tariro Mutsamanye and Dexter Tinashe Mugaro, were also brought before the court in connection with the same tragic incident.
The pair are no strangers to the judicial system, as a police representative confirmed, stating,
“They have been in custody waiting for the finalisation of a number of cases in which they face various accusations related to armed robberies.”
With four other suspects already in custody, authorities believe they are closing in on the entire group, noting that many of the alleged gang members appear to be related, including two brothers.

The chilling details of the night of August 17th continue to send shivers through the community. The gang’s operation was one of military precision and sheer brutality. It began when security guard, Bonus Kadiwa, heard the family dogs barking incessantly.
His decision to investigate would plunge him into a nightmare. He recounted the moment he was ambushed, stating,
“I spotted two men crawling near the gardener’s cottage towards the main house. I was grabbed from behind and threatened with a pistol.”
The assailants, armed with an arsenal of claw bars, hammers, and pistols, then took control.
“They force-marched me around the house before breaking down the north-facing main door to gain entry,” Kadiwa explained.
It was at this point he realised the scale of the threat, confirming there were seven attackers, all with their identities concealed by balaclavas. After confiscating his mobile phone, the gang left one man to stand watch over him while the other six began to ransack the property. The situation escalated horrifically when the group forced their way into the master bedroom.

A Murder Weapon’s Dark History
The confrontation in the bedroom was tragically short. A single, fatal gunshot was fired, striking Mr. Mutangadura in the chest and killing him instantly. In a grim development that underscores the violent nature of this gang, police have since confirmed a ballistic breakthrough. A representative for the investigating team revealed,
“Police announced this week that they recovered the pistol which was used to kill Mutangadura.”
The weapon’s sinister history did not end with the businessman’s death, as the same firearm was linked to another killing. The officer added, “The same firearm was used to kill a police officer in Sanyati at the weekend,” connecting the dots between two separate, devastating crimes.
