Two Elderly Women Protest Naked Over Land Dispute in Ziko Village

Drama erupted at Ziko Village, under Chief Seke, when two elderly women staged a naked protest against their neighbour, Bonface Nyangombe, over what they claim is an invasion of their property.

Gogo Anna Chick and Cecilia Chiremba took the unusual step of protesting unclothed to express their frustration over Nyangombe allegedly expanding his residential stand into Gogo Chiremba’s land.

Land Ownership Dispute Escalates

The dispute has reportedly been lodged with Chief Seke, but remains unresolved. Allegations have surfaced that some Manyame Rural District Council (RDC) employees may have provided Nyangombe with fraudulent documents to support his claim.

In response, Gogo Chiremba engaged with the council and successfully obtained documentation proving her ownership of the land. Nyangombe then approached the Chitungwiza Civil Court seeking a protection order, with his case scheduled to be heard today.

“I have an offer letter from the responsible authority, Manyame RDC.
“I also have Chief Seke’s confirmation of my ownership of the stand,” Nyangombe said.

Villagers Condemn Alleged Land Grab

Residents have voiced strong opposition to Nyangombe’s actions, accusing him and his accomplices, Mushonga and Chikozve, of attempting to exploit Gogo Chiremba’s age and vulnerability.

“We are unhappy with how some Council employees are aligning themselves with land barons.
“This elderly woman has had this stand since 2016 and has kept all her receipts. The CEO of Manyame RDC is fully aware of this situation and it’s shocking that Bonface thinks he can displace her. We must stand up against this injustice,” a villager said.

Council Responds

Following the uproar, sources confirmed that a Manyame RDC employee implicated in the dispute has been transferred, highlighting the council’s efforts to address concerns about internal misconduct.
