Bulawayo Man Jailed After Stealing ZBC Broadcasting Equipment Worth US$5 000
A 23-year-old man from Bulawayo has been sentenced to prison after stealing broadcasting equipment valued at more than US$5 000 from a Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) vehicle parked at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds.

Theft Committed at ZITF Grounds
Elton Dalubuhle Ndlovu of Iminyela was convicted by the Tredgold Magistrates Court of theft from a motor vehicle. The court heard that the crime was committed during the early hours of 28 December 2025.
Between 1am and 7.30am, Ndlovu unlawfully accessed an unlocked ZBC outside broadcast van that had been parked overnight at the ZITF grounds and helped himself to valuable broadcasting equipment.

High-Value Equipment Targeted
According to National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the stolen property was contained in a black satchel and included an Apple MacBook laptop, an HP Core i7 laptop, a Barix audio box, power cables, laptop chargers, a Wi-Fi router, microphone connectors, headphones and ethernet cables.
The total value of the stolen items was estimated at US$5 138.
Arrest Leads to Recovery of Stolen Goods
Ndlovu’s escape was short-lived after he was arrested while attempting to sell some of the stolen equipment. All the items were subsequently recovered.
Effective 18-Month Jail Term
The magistrate sentenced Ndlovu to 36 months’ imprisonment, with 18 months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour. This means he will serve an effective 18 months behind bars.
Prosecutors Urge Public Vigilance
The NPAZ urged members of the public and organisations to secure their property at all times, warning that negligence creates opportunities for crime.
