Collins Mnangagwa’s Wife Faces Court As Police Detail Alleged Drug Discovery
Kelsea Tadiwa Tafirenyika, the second wife of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s son Collins Mnangagwa, has appeared in court after police allegedly recovered pethidine, morphine and cannabis during a raid at her Harare home. Prosecutors are opposing bail as investigations continue into the alleged drug case.
Police Detail Drugs Allegedly Recovered During Greystone Park Raid
Zimlive reports that Kelsea Tadiwa Tafirenyika, 22, appeared before the courts on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, facing a charge of unlawfully dealing in dangerous drugs.
Court papers state that detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics unit acted on information received on 4 August 2026 alleging that drugs were being sold from her Greystone Park residence.
Prosecutors allege detectives entered the house at around 8pm and found Tafirenyika in her bedroom.
The investigating officer told the court:
“The police are yet to arrest the drug trafficker who supplied the accused with the dangerous drug so if released on bail this will jeopardize investigations.”
According to court documents, police allegedly recovered multiple ampoules of pethidine and morphine from the bedroom before finding additional drugs during a further search. Officers also allege they found five rolls of cannabis concealed inside a white Lamborghini parked at the property.
Court papers state the seized drugs have an estimated value of US$204 (about R3,370).
Prosecutors Oppose Bail Over Flight Risk Concerns
The National Prosecuting Authority is opposing bail, arguing that investigations are still ongoing.
The investigating officer further stated:
“The accused was found in possession of Verpat Pethidine designed for sale in foreign markets indicating that she has foreign ties she can utilise to evade prosecution.”
The affidavit also alleges that releasing Tafirenyika could allow her to reconnect with the suspected supplier.
She was remanded in custody to Thursday, 6 August 2026, for a bail hearing.
Claims About Family Dispute Remain Unverified
Zimlive also reports that Collins Mnangagwa was recently sent to Belarus for rehabilitation and alleges that Tafirenyika used his money to acquire properties. It further claims that First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa demanded her arrest.
The case is expected to continue when the court hears her bail application.
