South African gospel powerhouse Dr Winnie Mashaba welcomed 2026 with the surprise of a lifetime from her loving husband. The award winning singer, TV presenter and businesswoman received her dream Mercedes Benz ML as an early birthday gift. She will turn 45 soon, and the luxury SUV marked the start of her celebration in unforgettable style.
Dream Car, Early Birthday
In an emotional Instagram reel, Mashaba greeted the year with the words, “Okay, hello 2026. Story of my life.” She explained that her manager, who is also her younger brother, insisted she attend a very important meeting. Her son joined the plea, telling her the meeting could not go ahead without her presence at the venue. Tired from a busy schedule, she initially wanted to rest through January and almost refused to leave home.
However, she eventually agreed, only to discover the “meeting” was actually a perfectly staged surprise car reveal. “Hubby bought me my favorite car,” she told fans, overwhelmed as she climbed into the gleaming Mercedes Benz ML. Mashaba added that she once vowed not to die before driving that specific car model she adored for years.
Family, Love And Gratitude
Her husband knew that promise and quietly turned it into reality, choosing the car matching her long held dream. Family members helped execute the surprise, capturing her stunned reaction as the keys were handed to the gospel star.
On Instagram, she praised her spouse, affectionately calling him “my King” and thanking him for his continued support. The singer turned her joy into a heartfelt prayer, writing, “Kea leboga Morena Modimo,” and thanking God for everything.

Mashaba has spent more than two decades lifting audiences with powerful traditional gospel anthems across Southern Africa. Born in Steelpoort, Limpopo, she rose to fame with her breakout album “Exodus 20” in the early 2000s.
