Former Catholic Priest Stuns With Traditional Kenyan Wedding After Leaving Priesthood
Italian-born former Catholic priest Sandro Ferretto has left the priesthood and married his Kenyan partner, Sharon Jepng’ok, in a traditional ceremony in Baringo, Kenya, marking a major change in his life after years of missionary work in the region.
According to The Kenya Times, the 55-year-old former priest married Sharon on Sunday, 6 September 2026, at Seretion Village in Kasiela.

Ferretto previously served Catholic communities in Kasiela and Mochongoi for about 12 years after beginning his missionary work in Kenya in 2008.
The wedding followed a traditional Koito ceremony, a Kalenjin customary marriage process involving family participation, dowry negotiations and blessings.
The Kenya Times reported:
“The couple held a Koito ceremony, the Kalenjin customary rite for dowry negotiation and family blessing.”
The ceremony was attended by relatives, community elders, local leaders and Sharon’s colleagues.
Sandro Ferretto Embraces Kenyan Wedding Traditions
Sharon Jepng’ok is from Baringo South and reportedly met Ferretto during his missionary service in the area.
The former priest was also seen dancing with his bride during the ceremony, with footage of the celebration attracting attention online.
Ferretto returned to Italy in December 2020 before later returning to Kenya. In 2023, he reportedly stepped down from a pastoral leadership role in Italy for a period of reflection.
From Priesthood To Married Life
The wedding represents a significant transition for Ferretto, who had spent more than a decade working with Catholic communities in Baringo.
The Kenya Times noted that he was widely known locally as “Father Sandro” during his years of service.
The ceremony has since drawn attention because of his move from missionary and pastoral work to married life with Sharon.
