Suspected serial killer Anymore Zvitsva has been directly linked to 19 murders, with chilling details of his alleged year-long reign of terror laid bare in a Harare Magistrates Court. The 33-year-old from Guruve faced court on Monday, 5 January 2026, on multiple charges. Prosecutors detailed a horrific chronology of attacks, primarily targeting women in their homes and fields across the district.

Zvitsva, who appeared from a hospital bed, was remanded in custody until 19 January 2026 for his formal indictment. Magistrate Vakayi Chikwekwe advised that any bail application would need to be made in the High Court due to the severity of the charges.

A Grisly List of Victims

The prosecution presented a harrowing list of 19 alleged murder victims linked to Zvitsva across numerous incidents between March and December 2025.

3. Alice Marangarire – Killed in October 2025.

9. Pamela Chipangura – Killed on 9 December 2025 at Zimuna Village.

Prosecutor Lawrence Gangarahwe detailed the first alleged attack on Jane Dube in March 2025, stating:

“When Dube fled into a nearby maize field, he pursued and bludgeoned her to death with an iron rod.”

Home Invasions And Multiple Murders

The state alleges the violence escalated with brutal home invasions in late 2025. Describing the 30 November attack at Farm 31, Prosecutor Gangarahwe said:

“He forced open the door, causing a noise that awakened Chizema. Anymore Zvitsva then produced the knife and threatened to stab her if she made any noise. He forced her to lie on the bed and strangled her to death with the snare wire.”

A similar attack was detailed for 9 December in Zimuna Village, where four people were allegedly strangled. One victim, Tadiwanashe Marasika, was then kidnapped. Gangarahwe told the court:

“On 10 December 2025, Marasika attempted to escape. However, upon noticing her attempt, Anymore Zvitsva chased her, killed her and buried her body on the Nyakapupu Mountain range.”

The Hunt And Arrest

Zvitsva was arrested on 3 January 2026 after a protracted manhunt. Detective Assistant Inspector Peter Gwavuya of the CID Homicide Unit strongly opposed bail. In an affidavit, Gwavuya argued:

“The accused committed several murder cases without remorse and is likely to continue if released.”

Police reportedly recovered items including snare wire, a spear with suspected blood stains, a container of suspected poison, and a stolen solar panel. Zvitsva faces charges under the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. The court awaits his formal indictment later this month.
